Got Questions?
Here are the things patients ask us most.
01What should I expect at my first visit?
Plan on about an hour. The dentist examines your teeth and gums, takes X-rays if they decide you need them, and talks through what they found. You leave with a plan and a written estimate for any treatment.
02Do you accept my insurance?
Tell us your plan when you ask for a visit and we'll say whether we are in network. We send claims to your plan for you, and our front desk checks your benefits before your first visit. Our How fees work page has the details.
03What if I don't have insurance?
You pay the fee for your visit, and we give you a written estimate before treatment. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.
04Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?
Coverage depends on your plan, so please call us and we'll answer yes or no before you book.
05Will it hurt?
We numb the area for treatment, and you can ask for a break at any time by raising your hand. We can't promise you won't feel anything, but we go at your pace.
06How often should I come in?
Many patients come for a checkup and cleaning every six months. Your dentist decides how often you need X-rays and cleanings, and may suggest more frequent visits for conditions like gum disease.
07What is a deep cleaning?
It cleans below the gumline when your dentist finds gum disease. It usually takes more than one visit, and the dentist explains why you need it and what it costs first.
08Do you see children?
Yes. Our general dentists see children as well as adults. A first visit around a child's first tooth, or by their first birthday, is a good time to start. If a child needs a pediatric dentist, we'll tell you and refer you.
09What counts as a dental emergency?
Call us right away for a knocked-out or broken tooth, a lost filling or tooth pain, and we'll fit you in the same day when we can. If swelling spreads to your face, eye or neck, you have trouble breathing or swallowing, or bleeding won't stop, go to an emergency room or call 911.
10Do you offer sedation?
We offer nitrous oxide, sometimes called laughing gas, for patients who want help relaxing. Your dentist gives it, you stay awake, and we explain it before you decide. We do not offer other kinds of sedation, and we will refer you if a treatment calls for one.
11Can I get a written estimate before treatment?
Yes. Ask at scheduling or at your visit. Anyone paying without insurance gets one in advance, and so does anyone who asks. It lists the treatment, the visits it takes and the expected cost.
12Do you speak Spanish?
Dr. Vega and Dr. Tapia speak Spanish, and our site is also in Spanish. If you want a visit in Spanish, tell us when you book.
13How do I cancel or change a visit?
Call us or send a message as early as you can, and we will find another time. We ask for as much notice as you can give so that we can offer the time to someone else.
